Generate long tail keywords

We've been drumming with 'How to Generate a Long Tailed Keyword for SEO' for a long time. Focusing on long tail keywords is a great SEO tactic. Long tail keywords are keywords or keyword phrases that are more specific and usually longer than the most searched keywords. Long tail keywords receive less search traffic, but will generally have a higher conversion value because they are more specific. They allow you to gradually get more traffic and be found by new and motivated audiences.

This is why it is important to target long and very specific keywords. In retail, long tail keywords are especially valuable. Short keywords indicate that the user is browsing only, while long tail keywords indicate that the user knows what they want and are ready to buy.

So where should you find those long tail keywords that drive traffic and leads? Here are 10 tips to get you started.

1.Use Google Suggest for long tail keywords

Google Suggestions is a great source for long tail keyword variations. Start by typing your main keyword into the Google search box and see what variations Google suggests:

If it shows up in a Google suggestion, you know it's a phrase people are looking for.

These suggestions do not necessarily inspire their faith in humanity but they can inspire good content.

2.Use related Google searches

The same principle as the Google suggestions that appear when writing your request. however these related search suggestions appear at the bottom of the SERP, below the first page of organic results.

3. Use more and more different keyword research tools

If you only use one keyword tool every time you do a keyword research, you are selling little. Maybe you're probably missing out on tons of long tail keyword variations.

The Google Keyword Tool is a great basic tool and a good place to start. But if you're looking for longer keywords, try some other options as well:

  • Google Trends: Find out what people are looking for right now.

  • Social media tools, for example, the YouTube keyword tool and Twitter search.

The more keywords you try, the greater the variation in the long tail keywords.

4. Use your analyzes

Your analytics will tell you most, if not all, of the key phrases that bring visitors to your site. When you search for these keyword references, you may find several long tail queries. these queries will direct traffic to you.

These keywords may be relevant to your business, but they are not yet highly targeted by a single page on your site.

To find your own private long tail keyword repository, go to Analytics and locate your organic keyword referrals (in Google Analytics the route is Traffic Sources -> Sources -> Search -> Organic) .

You can simply search for all relevant long tail keywords. These can become content or set the date range to something quite large. Analyzes therefore has a lot of data to analyze and look for patterns. For example, you can search for keywords in your questions (i.e. terms starting with "what", "why", etc.).

5.Examine your search query reports

If you're running a PPC campaign in AdWords, remember to use the search query report the same way you used your analytics, one of the many ways PPC data can inform your SEO.

Your search query report shows the search queries that led people to click on your ads, rather than natural search results.

As an added benefit, you get more comprehensive access to this data than your organic referrals in Google Analytics.

It's also easier to see which keywords are driving conversions, not just traffic. It is worth looking for high converting long tail keywords.

6.Explore eHow

Sites like eHow are practically driven by keyword research, especially long tail keyword research. Demand Media, the company that owns eHow, Cracked.com, and other sites, uses powerful algorithms to find long-tail keywords that it can rank for with hyper-targeted content.

You might not have the incredibly profitable data sources or content algorithms on your end, but you can still learn from this methodology. Explore these sites for keyword ideas.

If eHow is targeting a keyword, you can bet it has search volume and advertisers are interested in buying a channel on those pages.

If you can create solid content with real value that is also hyper-objective, you have a good chance of overcoming content farms.

7.Respond to the audience

It's useful (and free!) Keyword research tool. Enter a keyword and generate common questions about that keyword. This will give you good direction for your content.

8 explore question and answer sites

Question and answer sites can be a good source of long tail keyword ideas. I'm talking about sites like:

  • Quora

  • Yahoo Answers

  • Answers.com

  • Askville by Amazon

  • LinkedIn Answers

Questions are great long-tail keywords: It would no longer be obvious that these people were looking for answers and information.

Of course, you want to do a little keyword research to find the version of each question that has the correct search volume and skill level. Not all questions found on a Q&A site will be a keyword worth tackling.

9. Browse Wikipedia

Is Wikipedia the Most Optimized Website on the Internet? It's definitely up there. You can learn a lot by following the optimization on the Wikipedia page. When looking for a basic term, try looking at the Wikipedia page. You can also do a page search (Control-F) of the main keywords page and see what other variations appear in the text.

Additionally, the “See Also” section at the bottom of many Wikipedia articles can be helpful in finding groups of related terms.

10.Use Long Tail Keywords and Outperform Your Competitors

For inquiries, Wikipedia is often your competitor. But always check your competition when researching a keyword. Start with the main and middle terms you are trying to rank for and see what types of keyword variations are used on the pages with a 5-10 point rating.
